Introduction
Introduction
This chapter introduces the research questions that motivated the writing of this book: How do lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer stepparent families forge a path toward plural parenting? How does family law at the federal and state levels shape the respondent families’ parent-child relationships? Are lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer stepparent families formed after a heterosexual relationship dissolves different from stepfamilies formed after a queer relationship dissolves? The introduction also explains the methods used to inform the book. Finally, this chapter shares Acosta’s goals in writing this book.
