This chapter describes a program for the debut issue of a radical Yiddish weekly, Di nyu-yorker yidishe folkstsaytung. Espousing socialism and proto-Jewish nationalism, the program aims to address the labor question and improve labor conditions for Jews; provide “[s]trong, firm, and correct propaganda” aimed at instilling ideals of equality, freedom, and brotherhood to the populace; discuss the situation of Jewish workers in the world generally and in America particularly; address the Jewish Question in connection with the evolution of the civilizations among various peoples; foster the general development of culture and civilization; recount the major milestones in Jewish history; provide interesting, original stories and translations from the latest writers; and explore the political situation among various peoples.
